The Kitchen Garden Series

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA

Growing up as the granddaughter of a farmer, Heidi Barr was instilled with a natural wonderment for all things that grow: food, ideas, friendships, flowers, trees, communities. Now the Philadelphia-based artist works in textiles and garden-based installations, and has created The Kitchen Garden Series to support their growth.

The Kitchen Garden Series is a line of kitchen textiles made from reclaimed materials. Their mission is to provide heirloom quality kitchen textiles while supporting Philadelphia's growing urban agricultural movement. TKGS does this by designing and manufacturing products locally in their Philadelphia neighborhood and by donating 25% of the proceeds to two local farms that grow food for their communities. TKGS's signature style is defined by the use of up-cycled men's shirts and the tea dyed linen. They believe that using reclaimed materials is an important part of reducing textile waste in our landfills.
